Boho Elopement in Tamarindo Costa Rica || Michelle + Ian:
A couple of years ago, Michelle and Ian visited Costa Rica for the first time. They ventured to the the rainforest before making their way down to the beach in Santa Teresa. And Michelle just knew that she would one day return to Costa Rica to marry Ian. It just felt so right. That one day turned into a three year engagement period. As Michelle said, “We really were not in a rush to get married because we knew it would naturally happen.” Plus, Michelle really was engaged to marry their dog Wally, because he was the one who had proposed to her after all, with a “Marry Me” sign around his neck! But then Michelle’s mom got sick, and Michelle knew that she couldn’t plan the boho elopement in Costa Rica she had envisioned without her mom’s help.
Michelle and her mom got busy planning and making arrangements — they designed a beautiful flower crown for Michelle to wear, picked out a stunning boho chic wedding dress by Cristalle and stunning earrings designed by Ayala Bar, booked the charming Beach Bungalows in Tamarindo, and then Michelle’s mom insisted that I was the photographer that was going to capture her daughter’s special day. As Michelle mentioned to me, “My mom simply said that she just knew that you were a woman full of passion and loved what you do.” (I almost teared up when Michelle said this to me.) And knowing that her mother may no have much time left, Michelle knew that the day she would said “forever” to Ian would be on her mother’s birthday, February 2nd.
So finally, after six years after dating, three years engaged, two animals, Wally the dog and Monkey the Siamese cat), and a day and a half delay getting to Costa Rica due to a snow storm, Michelle and Ian stood on the beach in Tamarindo and exchanged their vows. Michelle’s two best girlfriends stood by as witnesses, and surrounded by the sun’s golden afternoon glow, Michelle and Ian kissed for the first time as husband and wife. It was beautiful, it was magical, and you definitely could feel Michelle’s mom watching over from above.
