Here’s What Happened When I Listened To My Intuition –
Oh-my-word, I am at a loss of words and for me that is something quite rare. How four years has gone by – – it’s been four years to-the-day since I packed up my cubicle and left the corporate world in New York City. The plan was to go to Costa Rica for a year, maybe two, with the fallback plan of going back to the US to grad school for an MBA.
But here I was this twenty something, highly educated woman with no “real job” and not really sure who I was. That first two years weren’t easy – – heck it still isn’t “easy”. But I did what felt right, putting one foot in front of the other, trying to live each day to the fullest, and chasing the magical Costa Rican sunsets. I was shedding my corporate-gal skin and had a book of blank pages in front of me. I was free. I was free to create, to incubate, to tune in and and listen to my intuition. Costa Rica and her beauty were my canvas to start my next chapter.
Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up pursuing one of my passions. Ok, maybe in my wildest dreams I did, because I wasn’t afraid to dream…to dream oh-so-wild and oh-so-crazy. I really can’t believe that it’s been four years since that corporate girl left a big city for a tiny surf town. The time has flown, but it also feels like four years ago was so long ago. I came to Costa Rica for one thing, and flowed into being what I truly believe is my calling, a photographer. Holy macaroons, if only the Kristen of four years ago knew she was going to be able to call herself a photographer! So here is to another four years of dreaming….that is, a little bit more focused dreaming! I can’t wait to see what’s in store!
¡Feliz Aniversario / Happy Anniversary to me!
XO,
Kristen
P.S. What the heck do I mean by “chasing sunsets“? <— Trust me you want to click that link!
P.P.S. Mother Nature gave me the best anniversary gift this morning with some BEAUTIFUL waves – – it was a much needed surf session after almost two weeks of not surfing!
“NY, NY it has been an AMAZING ride…thank you for your love and also being a pain in my butt. Here is to the adventure that awaits! – XOs KB”
