Honeymoon in Tamarindo – Lani + Jay-J –

What better way to step outside the wedding registry norm than a gift for a surprise lifestyle photo session during the couple’s honeymoon? Tom contacted me a couple of weeks ago with this fantastic wedding gift idea for his sister, the bride, during her honeymoon in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. (I sure hope my brother is taking notes right now; what a beautiful gift!) I may be slightly biased here since I am a photographer, but seriously, Costa Rica is such a beautiful country and a lifestyle photo session is a great way to have as a souvenir of its beauty.

The one minor detail in this great gift from Tom was that he let me know that Lani’s husband, Jay-J, just so happens to be a film-maker and fellow photographer, and Lani is a graphic designer. Insert a tad bit of creative nerves! But from the moment I met Lani and Jay-J, I knew we were going to have some fun during golden hour on the beach in Tamarindo. For one thing, this beautiful couple sure knows how to move in front of the camera. Seriously, just oh-so-magical!

Interestingly enough, this creative couple just so happened to meet a couple of years ago via the dating app Tinder. Fortunately for Lani and Jay-J they met before Tinder started to get a not-so-nice reputation! After dating for a couple of years, the couple decided to get married, where else, but a super cool, old railroad yard in Northern Minnesota. ***Insert photographer swooning.***

To top that off, Lani and Jay-J picked Costa Rica for their honeymoon. From the cloud forest in Monteverde, the volcano at Arenal, all the way down to the beach in Tamarindo, this couple sure knows how explore the best places! Ziplinging, exploring a coffee plantation, horseback riding, seeing humpback whales – oh my! And then there a perfect afternoon for photographing on the beach in Tamarindo with yours truly. 🙂

Lani and Jay-J, I had such a fun time photographing and meeting the two of you. I feel so fortunate that your brother picked me to photograph your radiating love. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and amor!
