Offroading in Tamarindo Costa Rica – Anniversary Photos || Misti + Kent:

A year after Misti and Kent said I do, the couple hopped on a plane to celebrate their one year anniversary in what better place – Tamarindo, Costa Rica. They spent the week relaxing and vacationing with Kent’s sister, Kara, and her husband, Justin (yes, the Kara and Justin, parents of adorable Amellia!). AND perhaps the best part of the vacation? Misti and Kent loved hitting up one of my favorite restaurants, Surf Shack, for chocolate peanut butter smoothies practically every day (no judgement here – – I love my PB + chocolate milkshakes with a side of fresh bacon mix in!!!).

Almost ten years as a couple and a year into their marriage, these two still beam when they look at each other. Misti and Kent have been through thick and thin, with a major accident motorcross accident leaving Kent paralyzed from the chest down, but the love between these two is rock solid. (Last year during their wedding, Kent not only surprised Misti by standing at the altar as Misti walked down the aisle, but also standing for their first dance as husband and wife (thanks to an electrical stimulator implant in Kent’s spine and a custom-designed standing frame). They simply completely each other. Kent knows exactly what to say to make Misti laugh — and y’all, she has one of those radiating laughs that makes you want to laugh too. And when Justin snuggles her (yes Justin, Kent is a great snuggler!), Misti simply beams with happiness.

On the day after their one year anniversary, we kicked off year two of their marriage with an anniversary photo session. Although one of my favorite locations to photograph is the beach, Misti and I decided to switch it up a bit — 4×4 off-road ranger style! Having an awesome off-road ranger at our disposal afforded us the opportunity to off road a bit and really cover some ground in the backroads in Tamarindo. We started at one of my favorite magenta pink borganvillea bushes, followed by a back road detour through the hills in Tamarindo. We ended our session on the very top of the hill in Tamarindo, a stunning lookout with magnificent views of not only the Pacific Ocean, but also the Costa Rican mountains. As the sun started to pass over the horizon, Misti snuggled into Kent’s warm embrace. The two of them radiated with such happiness. And as darkness started to set in, the horizon turned a vibrant shade of orange, setting the stage for a breathtaking sunset silhouette of Misti and Kent.
