Visiting Tamarindo Costa Rica With Kids || Spencer Family:

Jason’s email started with, “We’re open to any creative ideas you have for a location. What do you think?” Can you say heck-to-the-yasssssss 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻!!!  With an email like that, I knew photographing the Spencer family was going to be an afternoon full of fun. Jason and I got to planning, and decided to start their family session at the top of my favorite lookout in Tamarindo. It’s one steep drive up to the top of the hill, but the narrow and windy road drive is totally worth it for the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, Playa Grande, Tamarindo, Playa Avellanas, and the rolling hills behind Tamarindo.

The Spencer kids, ranging from ages 6-16, immediately started exploring the lookout, finding Salamanders and other small creatures, throwing rocks off the hill, and snapping Polaroid shots of the gorgeous view. A couple of rain drops flirted with an afternoon rain shower, but the rain passed over and created the most magical backdrop for photos – – with the sun rays spilling through the clouds over the ocean.

After the youngest, James and Joe, had enough of exploring the lookout, we all headed down to the beach. Once their toes hit the sand, it took about 30 seconds for Joe and James to get in the water – – and about another 30 seconds for their older sister Kelly to join in on the fun. To say the least, the Spencer children are to getting wet in the ocean as moths are to a flame!!! And with permission from mom and dad, Joe, James, and Kelly had a blast swimming in the ocean with their family photo clothes on. After their swim, what better way to get even more dirty than by also getting sandy from head to toe?! With their father as the referee, Joe and James had one entertaining wrestling match on the beach in Tamarindo. Thankfully, the match ended in a tie!

To say the least, the Spencer Family kept me on the toes all afternoon and as a result, their family photos resulted in some beautiful, authentic images of the Spencer’s enjoying their family vacation in Costa Rica.
