With the intention of creating minimalist, sustainably made accessories that honor the traditional skillsets of the region in which they’re made, while providing safe, fair employment and supporting the local economy, a couple of years ago Deanna started developing LIYA Collective‘s first collection of classic silk scarves while living in Bangkok. Having lived around the world working for nonprofits, social enterprises, and sustainable businesses, LIYA Collective was born while Deanna was working on an international development project with USAID. A couple of countries later, Deanna and I connected in Costa Rica in January as she was preparing for the launch of LIYA Collective’s website. From Deanna’s first email, I knew I just had to work with this awesome, creative woman to help bring her vision to life with lifestyle brand photos in Tamarindo Costa Rica — all planned, photographed and delivered within a month of Deanna’s first email! Thanks to Deanna’s clear vision, we worked closely to coordinate models (thanks Shauny + Elsa — you two rocked it!), makeup (always love workign with you Tricia!), lighting, shot list, and locations.
