Playing on the Beach in Tamarindo, Costa Rica || Schwarz + Spano Families

Several years ago the Schwarz family relocated to Northern California. Although they were leaving Portland for a much sunnier climate, they were leaving behind some good friends like the Spano family. Given this new distance – – thousands of miles away – – between the two families, the Schwarz and Spanos figured what better way to see each other than a joint family vacation together every year? This year the Schwarz and Spanos location of choice just so happened to be Costa Rica.

 

A couple weeks before their trip, Ashley reached out to me inquiring about family photos for the two families, asking if she were crazy to try and corral both families for photos. Not at all, not at all! With a date set on the calendar, the families enjoyed a wonderful week at Casa Colorado in Tamarindo – – all ten of them (four small kids, four parents, and two au pairs!)

On one of their last days in Tamarindo, I met up with the Schwarzs and Spanos. Everett, the oldest of the children, had a blast looking for shells in the low tide sand with a coconut husk to hold his treasures. Vivian and Addy loved jumping in the low tide pools, getting their cute matching pink starfish dresses wet almost immediately. And little two year old Calder, well he simply had a blast picking his nose. Boys will be boys!

As the kids played in the water, the parents were able to sneak off for a bit with me for photos as the sun passed over the horizon. I loved catching the families in their moments, from every day picking noses, spinning with mom, or sharing a moment with dad.
