5 Quick and Easy Photography Tips

The best time of day to photograph on the beach is in the early morning or late afternoon.
During the middle of the day when the sun is the strong and the light is intense, photograph in the shade.
Play with cool shadows!
Backlight your subject to avoid squinting and uneven shadows falling across faces.
Make sure the horizon line is straight.

Kristen went above and beyond for our maternity session. We had them done in the height of rainy season and day one she was willing to work with us to get the pictures we hoped for. From start to finish, we had a great experience with Kristen. First, it was super easy to set up a family photo shoot with her. She was very quick to respond to emails and flexible about a possible backup date, if one became necessary. On the actual day of the shoot, everything went so smoothly. She showed up early and immediately put our two young boys at ease. Our one son had been having a rough day, so I feared the worst in terms of his behavior. But she was very sweet and let them show off their stuffed animals. She got some great shots of them with “Lambie” and “Bubba”! Before I knew it, we were taking very natural photos as a happy family and the tantrums from earlier in the day were a distant memory. Everyone was smiling and having a great time. After taking some photos at our rental house, Kristen took us to a great “secret” beach with thousands of beautiful seashells and a gorgeous sunset. Kristen continued to take great shots with all sorts of combinations – Dad and kids, Mom and kids, individual shots, etc. Once the shoot was over, Kristen was quick to get us a wonderful preview and the final album came pretty fast too. The final album was so much more than I expected. We got tons of images; more than I’m used to with other professional photographers. Several friends and family have commented on what a good idea it was to do a photo shoot on vacation. We had an amazing photo session with Kristen from Samba to the Sea! My partner Elias and I did a pregnancy photo session at sunset on the beach with Kristen. We are beyond pleased with all of our beautiful photos. Kristen is not only a great photographer, but she is also a great director.
